About Twenty Point Programme

The Twenty Point Programme was launched in the year 1975. Main objective of this programme is to eradicate poverty and bring improvement in the life status of common man. This programme was revised in the year 1982, 1986 and 2006. Twenty Point Programme-2006 has come into effect from 1st April 2007. This programme renews the commitment of government to eradicating poverty, raising productivity, reducing income in-equalities and removing social and economic disparities.

Twenty Point Programme -2006 consists following 20 points:-

  •  Poverty Eradication
  •  Power to People
  •  Support to Farmers
  •  Labour Welfare
  •  Food Security
  •  Housing for All
  •  Clean Drinking Water
  •  Health for All
  •  Education for All
  •  Women Welfare
  •  Child Welfare
  •  Youth Development
  •  Improvement of Slums
  •  Social Security
  •  Rural Roads
  •  Energization of Rural Area
  •  Development of Backward Areas
  •  IT enabled e-Govenance
  •  Environment Protection Afforestation
  •  Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Minorities and OBCs

 

Twenty Point Programme-2006 consists of 65 monitor-able items. Out of 65 items, 17 items are being monitored on quarterly basis by GoI. These are:-

  1. Employment Generation under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA)
  2. National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM): (i) New and revived SHGs brought under NRLM fold
    (ii) SHGs provided Revolving Fund (RF)
    (iii) SHGs provided Community Investment Fund (CIF)
  3. Distribution of Wasteland to landless
  4. Minimum Wages enforcement (including Farm Labour) *
  5. Food Security: *
    (i) Targeted Public Distribution System (AAY+APL+BPL)
    (ii) National Food Security Act (NFSA) (Normal)
    (iii) National Food Security Act (NFSA) (Tideover)
  6. Rural Housing- Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Grammin (PMAY-G)
  7. EWS/LIG Housing in Urban Areas.
  8. Sanitation Programme in Rural Areas *
  9. Institutional Delivery
  10. SC families Assisted :
    (i) SC families assisted under SCA to SCSP and NSFDC
    (ii) SC students assisted under post matric scholarship
  11. Universalisation of ICDS scheme.
  12. Functional Anganwadis.
  13. Number of urban poor families assisted under seven point charter viz. land tenure, housing at affordable cost, water, sanitation, health, education and social security.
  14. Afforestation:
    (i) Areas covered under plantation on-public and forest lands
    (ii) Number of seedling planted on public and forest lands
  15. Rural Roads- Pradhan Mantri Grammin Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)
  16. Energising Pump sets
  17. Supply of Electricity *
